We had an amazing 4th of July weekend! On the day of we met up with our friends Jennifer and Ruby for their neighborhood parade! It was really cute, with old cars and homemade floats. Then we hightailed it over to Vasona park for a BBQ (in the shade.) Amaya got so dirty and we all ate until we were stuffed! My flag cake ended up being pretty popular so I was thrilled.
On the day after we headed over to a Madres BBQ and swim party at a beautiful house in the Silver Creek hills. Amaya and Daddy swam until they were wrinkly and then Amaya had fun playing on the slides and jungle gym.
By Monday night we were totally exhausted but really happy that we spent time with friends and family!

Amaya took a three hour nap after her birthday bash. Her daddy did too.
A Strawberry Shortcake Day
Amaya's birthday went off without a hitch! Our little girl had a blast and played the entire time, then went home and napped for three hours. We are so blessed and thank everyone who spend the afternoon with us!

She grins, talks, throws minor tantrums, shrugs her shoulders, runs fast, hugs her dogs. Hugs my arm. Follows her older cousins around.
Vocab has exploded. Says sentences. "Where's daddy and Where'd daddy go?" are her favorites. Also asks to go to "Grampie's house" on a regular basis. Loves fruit. Won't eat eggs or PBJ.
It's the little things that I'm noticing that make her such a big girl. The way she walks up the stairs rather than crawling. Her need to feed herself an entire meal with a spoon. Her singing, oh my goodness, her singing the cutest thing ever. She sings songs to herself, to her shadow, to the dogs, to her baby dolls.
Since today was her birthday we ate a great breakfast and then went to Emma Prusch farm so she could see the animals. We headed to the pool and tried out her new swim toys since it was ridiculously hot. Then we had family over for a light dinner and dessert and sang happy birthday to her. True to form, she sang along :)

The weather was brutally hot so we decided to hit the pool. I like to lounge and read books but bebe and Daddy jump right in and splash around!

A few days ago we had the opportunity to go with Jen and Ruby to the Dennis the Menace park and Monterey Bay Aquarium. Here are some shots taken with my camera phone. This was the first real time Amaya wasn't in her stroller and had the opportunity to roam around and decide what she wanted to look at. We had so much fun!
