Dear Amaya,

Today you started pre-school at a place that I hope you will grow and flourish at. I should tell you first that it was very difficult to make the decision to let you out a little bit in the world. If I could keep you right by my side until you are 18 and ready to go off on your own I totally would. But I can’t and we sent you to a place that I think you will love.

We had lots of fun getting you ready for school, I picked out new shoes and daddy got you dressed. When we rounded the corner to your school you shouted out “PEE SCOOL!” so I knew that you understood the concept. We went in and you took off your backpack and ran over to the shelves that held the wooden shapes. I stood back to just take a minute to watch how carefully you picked them up and examined them. Just before leaving I let you know what time I would be back to pick you up and then I asked for a kiss. You complied and then ran off to explore something else.
On my way home I cried in the car. Not because I was sad to be leaving you or that you had to go to school but because you are growing so fast my love. You are such an independent smart little girl who has her sights set on things I’ll never know about. Just like when I watched you in the rear view mirror the other day and you were gazing out the window and smiling to yourself. I just know you had so many amazing things just running through your head. I called Daddy who confidently told me that you would do awesome and he was totally right. The staff said you had a great first day and that you liked exploring the independent life skills activities like pouring your own milk and scooping your own food.

To celebrate Daddy made some chocolate chip cookies that night. I can’t wait to see where this new direction takes you.

Love
Mommy

Pasta for Dinner

 Monday, May 11, 2009

We gave Amaya some organic rice pasta the other night to try out. Before you say eww, let me say that it tastes exactly like wheat pasta and she ate a lot of it! I'm all for teaching her healthy food habits but I'll do my hardest to have a balance of healthy food and just the right amount of "bad stuff" so she doesn't go crazy the minute she gets out of my line of sight!

Friday Five- The New Hampshire version.

 Friday, April 10, 2009

1. RIP Grandpa Christian. We will miss you.

2. A trip back east to say goodbye netted this picture of Amaya on the plane. She slept and got two "OMG I didn't even realize there was a baby on the plane" comments. The plane ride back from Denver though was a bit tough. Amaya fell apart right at the end.

3. Amaya got to meet her Aunt Olivia who is 6 years old. Here's a pic of Amaya with her Uncles and Aunt.

4. I got my historical building fix in New Hampshire, everything is old and just reeks of history. Here we are outside of the "Governors House" in Portsmouth. "Built in 1917, this stately Georgian Colonial was the home of New Hampshire Governor Charles Dale where, from 1930 to 1964, he welcomed local, national and international dignitaries."

5. We attempted cut up kiwi and bananas but she did not like them. Back to the drawing board!!

First SF Zoo Trip!

 Thursday, March 26, 2009

I can honestly say that the last week has been one of the best in a looong time. Paul took off the entire week and our main plan was that we would do as much family time as possible. One of our goals was to make it up to the SF Zoo and on a beautiful sunny day we did! Paul and I had a blast and I think Amaya was content to cruise around in her stroller and then in back carry with her Daddy.

First Teething Biscuit!

 Wednesday, March 25, 2009

While wandering through BRU one day I decided to pick out some Earth's Best wheat teething biscuits for Amaya. I knew they would make a huge mess so I put her on a towel in the bathroom floor and let her go to town. She pulverized it, and while the cookie ended up everywhere, she really loved it! After she chewed down every little crumb I plopped her into the bath!

First time on the Swings!

 Thursday, March 12, 2009

On a sunny day last week, we decided to take Amaya and the doggies to the local park. I got over my germ fears and set her on the swings and watched Amaya scream and smile with delight. Her hair looked so funny, since it has been growing longer these days it was flying everywhere. I love catching her "firsts" on camera to share with everyone.

Amaya gets her first taste of puffs

 Monday, March 9, 2009

Amaya is eating solids about twice a day now, and I have been bugging Tiffany for me to let her try some finger foods. So far we have given her apple slices and pear slices, and for the most part she just sucks all the juice out of them and then gets mad when you take away the warm gooey mess she left behind. Well the other day I was finishing up giving her some squash and decided to let her try some of the puffs. The puffs came courtesy of Aunt Crystal. She made a few faces, but eventually started to grab at them and shove her hand into her mouth so she could get to them.
